Leadership
Meet the leaders guiding our vision and strategy. The team below brings deep expertise and a commitment to results.

Chris Bovis
MANAGING PARTNER
Chris Bovis brings more than 20 years of performance, racing, and automotive aftermarket experience to every Hart Marx engagement — experience earned on both sides of the deal table. As Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at WELD Racing, he built an acquisition-based growth strategy and played a pivotal role in the acquisitions of wheel brands CCW, HiPer Technology, and Forgestar, later helping lead WELD through its own transition to new ownership and the integration of a multi-brand portfolio. His career spans Yokohama Tire, major motorsports event promotion, and executive leadership at HiPer Technology — and as a national champion race driver, he knows the enthusiast markets HMA serves from the inside. Chris leads client development for the firm, guiding owners through the M&A process with the perspective of someone who has executed acquisitions, integrations, and ownership transitions firsthand.

Tom Marx, MAAP
PARTNER
Tom Marx combines more than 15 years of hands-on M&A advisory experience with a 30-plus-year network of relationships across the automotive and heavy-duty aftermarkets — a network few advisors in any industry can match. He has worked across virtually every product line, from brakes to engine parts to chassis components, and every channel: manufacturers, distributors, jobbers, installer chains, and independent repair companies. Tom advises buyers and sellers on maximizing transaction value and supports post-merger integration strategies that protect return on investment. A frequent industry author and speaker, he is an active member of the Auto Care Association, SEMA, AASA, ACC, APRA, HDMA, and CAWA, and earned his Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) designation from Northwood's University of the Aftermarket — credentials that reflect a career spent inside the industry, not observing it from a distance.

Devin Hart
VICE PRESIDENT, FINANCE
Devin Hart knows what it means to sell a business, because he has done it as an owner. As President, CEO, major shareholder, and board member of CADNA Rubber Company, an aftermarket supplier of belts, hoses, and metal components, Devin led the company's sale to Continental AG in 2014 — the same journey HMA's sell-side clients are contemplating. His more than 20 years in the automotive aftermarket include over 14 years in key management roles at Federal-Mogul, giving him a deep understanding of how large strategic buyers evaluate and integrate acquisitions. A retired U.S. Navy Commander with 20 years of service, Devin holds an MBA in finance from Auburn University and leads the firm's financial analysis and transaction structuring with the discipline of an operator and the empathy of a former owner.

John Nodson
VICE PRESIDENT, RESEARCH
John Nodson leads the research capability that sets HMA apart from generalist advisors. He spent 35 years at Standard Motor Products, rising to Director of Marketing with leadership across business units managing multiple brands and full lines of engine management, brake products, and retail accessories — an insider's education in how the aftermarket actually works. John brings hands-on experience integrating major acquisitions, launching new businesses, and working with joint venture partners, and as head of HMA's market research department he directs primary research, focus groups, online studies, and partnerships with major data providers. His team's work is what turns a client's acquisition criteria into a qualified pipeline — and a seller's story into evidence buyers believe and value.

Todd Hack
VICE PRESIDENT
Todd Hack has more than 40 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket, including executive roles at CARQUEST, Gates Corporation, and Mevotech. He also held leadership positions in several industry associations. At the Auto Care Association, he served on the Board of Directors and held roles including treasurer and finance committee chair. He also served on the AWDA Board of Governors, chaired the AWDA Manufacturers Advisory Council, and was a board member of the Automotive Sales Council, where he remains an active participant. Until his retirement, he served on the Board of Trustees of the University of the Aftermarket Foundation.
Todd earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the State University of New York and received an MBA in Marketing from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
